Laboratory Analyst I
Summary of Position: Performs sample preparation and/or analysis per published methods and Standard Operating Procedures.
a. Preparing and/or analyzing environmental samples based on published methods
b. Following quality control procedures as outlined in documented procedures.
c. Preparing standards and reagents.
d. Documenting all lab activities in applicable logbooks and databases (e.g. sample prep, sample analysis, standard and reagent prep, instrument maintenance, etc.).
e. Entering data intoLaboratory Information Management System (LIMS) as applicable.
f. Performing routine maintenance of equipment and instrumentation.
g. Responsible for keeping applicable workspaces clean and safe.
h. Disposing of samples and by-products per required procedures.
i. Handling of waste products per required procedures.
j. Reviewing data from other analysts, if applicable.
k. Attending required company and department meetings.
l. Completing required training activities within require timeframes.
m. Promoting cooperation and teamwork among staff.
n. Following policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
o. Other duties as assigned.

a. Education and/or Experience: BA/BS in a scientific field or 2-3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
b. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
c. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Responsibilities with respect to Performing Tests
a. Responsible for performing tests (either sample preparation or analysis) based on published methods or Standard Operating Procedures.
Responsibilities with respect to Planning of Tests and Evaluation of Results
a. Responsible for scheduling or planning sample preparation and/or analysis based on available information regarding due dates and hold times.
b. Responsible for evaluating primary analyses including sample results and quality control results.
c. Responsible for evaluating other analysts work (peer review) as needed, including sample results and quality control results.

a. Responsible for reporting opinions and interpretations for their specific functions via footnotes/qualifiers in LIMS.
