Position Summary

The Marketing Manager, Autoimmune works in close coordination with the Manager, Laboratory & Systems Marketing, the Laboratory Commercial Sales Team, the Clinical Affairs Manager, Autoimmunity, the Training Team and the Global Marketing Team to develop and implement the US strategic marketing plan in the autoimmune diagnostics space to drive growth in the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manages the development and refinement of product messages and materials for sales presentations and assets to gain share;
  • Identifies market opportunities and devises strategies and tactics to assume successful sales execution;
  • Execute strategic and tactical marketing plans in accordance with the approved AOP;
  • Identifies and articulates training and development needs and works close with Sales Management and Training Teams to maximize usage of resources;
  • Participates in annual planning process for the autoimmune franchise;
  • Communicates with specialists and thought leaders;
  • Co-travels with various colleagues in the field to keep current on the changing marketing place;
  • Ensures that every marketing project meets all regulatory, compliance and brand requirements;
  • Builds successful working relationships and effectively manages the interface with a variety of third party agency staffers and suppliers;
  • Tracks and reports changes in the medical and marketing environment as relevant to the objectives of the organization, and;
  • Adjusts plans appropriately to assure successful goal attainment;
  • Plans, implements, and measures outcomes/ROI for a variety of programming initiatives;
  • Aligns the scope and implementation of strategic initiatives within the approved marketing budget; evaluates with respect to short- and long-term plan goals, making recommendations to line management as necessary if changes in funding allocation are deemed necessary;
  • Effectively manages autoimmune team projects, exercises sound decision-making, and successfully communicates revisions and/or changes to projects/programs;
  • Effectively provides expert advice/counsel as the autoimmune point person between multiple groups (Lab Sales, Health Systems Sales and National Accounts as well as Digital Marketing, Global Marketing and Regulatory); and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required, marketing or a scientific discipline preferred, MBA highly desirable;
  • Minimum of 3 years (5 years preferred) marketing or sales experience in a healthcare industry, particularly in diagnostics or medical devices;
  • Demonstrated success that includes development and implementation of commercial strategies and tactics to include contract management, capital equipment and reagent sales to academic hospital and reference laboratories;
  • Strong planning, project management, analytical and qualitative skills are required, as well as the ability to synthesize and integrate customer insights data, draw conclusions/implications, and translate into comprehensive strategies and business decision recommendations;
  • Demonstrated experience in segmentation, targeting, and positioning to successfully drive growth
  • Experience developing and/or maintaining consistency of positioning and messaging for marketing targets;
  • Collaboration with sales training (needs assessment, curriculum development, training delivery;
  • Comfortable working with agency partners: advertising/media, medical education, publications;
  • Cross-functional leadership experience and the ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus;
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently navigate internal approval process in developing and launching promotional materials in a related environment;
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, ranging from motivating sales teams to engaging with scientific thought leaders;
  • Ability to lead and influence change is desired
  • Digital strategy and digital execution experience is strongly preferred;
  • Experience using sales processes (SPIN, Conceptual Selling, and/or Strategic Selling) desired
  • Successful use of AGILE marketing processes desired;
  • Experience using Salesforce.com or other CRM for forecast management, sales execution and marketing campaigns desired;
  • The ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment while taking initiative, being resourceful, and exercising astute business judgment to drive performance;
  • The ability to be flexible, open-minded, and adapt successfully to changing business conditions;
  • Excellent listening and oral and written communication skills;
  • A history of operating with a sense of urgency and a drive for results;
  • The ability to delegate tasks and successfully manage multiple projects in a face-paced environment;
  • Proven decision-making skills, a proactive approach to business, and attention to detail; and
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 50% of time
