Director, Wireless Technology

The Director – Wireless Technology will be primarily responsible for development and delivery of Wireless Technology projects in support of Retail Wireless Services launch. RESPONSIBILITIES Establish a high performing Wireless Engineering organization and develop staffing plan to build significant wireless technical expertise within Cox Engineering team. Provide leadership and direction to Wireless Engineering organization. Directly responsible for all Wireless Engineering deliverables for Wireless Product initiatives, reporting out directly to Wireless Product leadership team. Work closely with Finance team to develop financial plans, business model inputs and capital and operating plans for wireless network initiatives. Provide technical thought leadership on wireless technologies and specific technology deployment advantages and risk assessments. Provide technical direction, inputs and required reporting to Wireless Program Office. Develop industry engagement strategy and represent Cox Communications in Wireless industry forums and standards organizations. Define trial architectures and testing plan for emerging Wireless Technologies (ex: Fixed Wireless Rural Broadband, 5G Core Evolution, Private LTE, Neutral Host CBRS DAS) Lead Vendor engagement strategy on Wireless Network RFI / RFP process and vendor selection criteria development. Develop and apply risk and issue management processes to identify, track, and resolve Wireless Program obstacles (Risk and Issue Management Plan) Work closely with Wireless Product Director, Program Management and all Engineering Team Leads to create an overall network operations strategy and network deployment plans. Ensure that deliverables meet quality requirements
Qualifications Required Minimum 15 years of experience as a technical engineer in the Wireless Communications Industry Minimum 10 years in technical management with 5 years previous Engineering Director experience.
